The Stuart Woods Will Lee series includes seven books. It was started in 1981 with Chiefs, and it ended with Mounting Fears in 2008. That last book is also the sixth of the Holly Barker series, where Will Lee is the main character and Holly Barker appears in a supporting role.
Unlike in the rest of the Stuart Woods books where the main characters are police detectives or government operatives, this series focuses on a governor who, in a later book, will become president of the United States, which is rather reminiscent of the Jack Ryan series from the time he became president.

Will Lee is a senator in Georgia. In Capital Crimes, book #6 in the Will Lee series, he is the US president who is constantly facing internal and external threats to the country.
In addition, an old threat, Teddy Fay, makes yet another appearance in this series as well. Teddy Fay is an ex-CIA operator, who is set on following his own personal brand of justice. In fact, this villain is so popular that Stuart Woods, working with Parnell Hall, created a brand new series featuring Teddy Fay as the main character.
The first book in the Will Lee series, Chiefs, was adapted as a miniseries for TV featuringĀ Charlton Heston, Danny Glover and Keith Carradine in the main roles.
