The Theodore Boone series by John Grisham features the 13-years-old Theodore, a kid who has spent more time in the courtroom than many adults. He is not a real lawyer, but he sure knows enough to help those in need. For this reason, he is often called the “kid lawyer,” which is also the title of the first book in the series.
John Grisham’s standalone books are mostly centered around legal mysteries and thrillers, and the Theodore Boone series – the author’s first series for kids – is only different in that the main character, Theo, is a pre-teen, a middle-school kid.

The Theodore Boone young adult series starts with Kid Lawyer, which introduces the main character to the readers. He is the only child of two lawyer parents and his main goal in life is to become a trial lawyer, just like his parents.
In the book, Theo becomes entangled with a major murder case which has gone to trial. In fact, it is Theodore’s involvement in the case that will lead to successfully closing it and dispensing justice.
For many readers, the John Grisham Theodore Boone series is an entry to the basics of the contemporary legal procedures in the court of law.
In The Scandal, Theo has to pass the standardized tests before going to high school. He doesn’t make the cut, in fact, he misses just by one point, which angers our favorite junior lawyer quite a bit.
So what he does instead? He gets engaged in yet another case involvingĀ a scandal in Strattenburg at his own school, where he can show just how clever he is and how him going to high school should be as easy as solving the case.
The Theo Boone books are all engaging, fast-paced and full of drama and mystery. Just like all the other John Grisham books.
