The Cheese Shop mystery series is written by the popular cozy mystery author, Avery Aames, who is also writing other books under her real name, Daryl Wood Gerber. The series features Charlotte Bessette, who is the owner of Fromagerie Bessette in the fictional town of Providence, Ohio. The town locals, however, call the place The Cheese Shop.

When the publisher approached Daryl Wood Gerber to write a new series, they also recommended she writes under a new pseudonym. Hense, Avery Aames was born along with the Cheese Shop cozy mystery series. The first book in the series, The Long Quiche Goodbye, was published in 2010. In 2011 it won the Agatha Award for Best First Novel.
While the author loves cheese a lot, to write this series, she had to do a lot of extra research for the books to be authentic. She went to various cheese stores and cheese sampling places and talked to the various owners about cheese. This is where she learned all about the many different cheese flavors, from which animals they are made, what can you cook with cheese, and so many more ideas.
Each book has recipes that the readers can try out, recipes that were all tested by the author, Avery Aames before the books were published. Also, each Cheese Shop book tackles another type of cheese. We meet Cheddar cheese, Brie, Camembert, Gouda, and so many more.
