This new series features homicide detective in the small town of Rockton, where she moved fleeing from her past. In fact, everyone in that tiny off-the-grid town retreated there from other places in search of hiding from something.
The town is hushed talked about as one that takes in people like Casey who have skeletons buried in their closets. In order to get there, however, you have to apply. If you are accepted, your old life will be forgotten and your new life starts fresh, from scratch. Like a newborn baby.
Casey also realizes that the town doesn’t have a detective of its own, so Casey, with her history and knowledge is the perfect candidate to be the town’s sheriff.
With each new book, more of the town population’s history is revealed, with more and more characters and their backstories adding to the desolated atmosphere of this secluded town where modern life with all its conveniences, such as cell phones, internet, mail, are not allowed. Also, once you’re in, you can’t leave unless the council approves your leave.
When investors start sneaking in this town all sorts of criminals who want to evade the law, things get really busy for Casey and sheriff Eric Dalton keeping the town safe.
